Is it possible to use flash (*.swf) in documents in Microstrategy?? Because i insert code for embedding flash in my document, but it doen't show anything, only seems in color black. But when i run the page (in html) that is generated by Microstrategy in my Documents Folder, it does!!

Is possible that the version of Microstrategy be the problem?? I'm using Microstrategy 7.2.0.

if you use absolute href addresses, it might work in desktop, but not necessarily because the desktop viewer uses a limited browser control.

Definitely in web it can be seen! great creative use of MSTR tech.

I have attempted to do this using absolute addresses and only get a macromedia placeholder, which when right-clicked, displays 'movie not loaded', when the exact same code works fine in a non-microstrategy html page.

nlim, do you have any other ideas?

You can trick microstrategy html documents into displaying the flash by using iFrames referencing external sites, but it is then very difficult to include microstrategy report objects.

We use 7.5.1, and have logged this with microstrategy tech support, but I believe this may well just come back as an enhancement request...

is the location for the movie file relative or absolute? You might need to set an absolute path to make sure the browser is not looking for the movie in the MicroSTrategy directories.

Thx nlim,

I managed to resolve the issue...

The embed src was an absolute path, and this didn't work, but when I set a param of 'src' with a value of the same absolute path for the flash object, I managed to get it working.
Normally this param is not req'd in an html page, but hey, whatever works!

Thanks again.
