Am I blind or has the Flare communicator download disappeared from the Avaya support site? I was using the GA candidate client but it expired, and unfortunately I've been asked to demo the client. I thought I saw it a few weeks ago on the Avaya support site but I can't find it for the life of me now.

So now someone from India is going to program the buttons instead of getting payed for it?
Sorry but i do not see the advantage of this.
It sounds like a sales guy or team who hit and run.
Over here it is important to have a relationship with a customer.
This does not contribute to that and seems more like a long distance relationship (one or both will cheat in such relationship very often)
But we will see.
It would be really hard but even i can do a different brand when it is needed.
Our company already decided to do more in Mitel because they have a good product too and where the IPO stops, Mitel goes on and on.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

There is no way Avaya will suppply enough people to do those kind of changes in any kind of timely manner, they will take ages and not consider knock on effects etc that a trained tech would, sounds like a good way to lose customers to me :)

It would take ages :)
I don't this is a good idea at all.
Not even for the stupid questions that you do not have to deal with but more that they loose there close contact or a face on their office when needed.

So aside from all the comments about IPOSS, back on topic, where is the flare communicator download for IPO?!? I was supposed to set this up today, check it out, and it's gone and the version I had is expired, so anybody heard from Avaya what happened? Shouldn't they at least tell us Partners or Distributors something like, "We are taking down the Flare software" or make some sort of announcement? I understand half the buttons didn't work, but why the heck would they push it out with 8.1 in all the literature and then have it available to download, then not have it available, and then say nothing about it? A call to our Distributor ended with "I don't know where it went, and pre-sales at Avaya has no idea."

My guess is that someone at Avaya realized that it wasn't ready for prime time yet and pulled it before word got out further that it wasn't all it was made out to be.

It worked OK as a softphone for me, but I transfer calls maybe twice a month and hardly ever use video.

I do agree that if it was pulled for specific reasons, then Avaya should fess up as to why. There seems to be more and more not getting divulged, such as bug fixes and the like. I got used to Nortel and their release notes that were fairly comprehensive about what was changed when a maintenance release/patch was issues. It doesn't seem that way with Avaya.

Same version I have. It shows as expired after you install it.

It appears to have expired on 8/1/2012. I changed the date on my PC to 7/31/2012 and it logged right in. There is the fix, you'll just perpetually be stuck in July 2012. :)

Or try this one :)

That one works. Have a star.

I've actually seen the Flare product work on the flagship Avaya system and it is really great, especially if you are using a flare device. If they can get this to work successfully on IP Office it holds real WOW factor when selling. Trouble is it HAS to work. If they need to work out some bugs then fine but I for one would like to see it back again.

Rick, could you do a transfer on it?
