favit: disk with "SRPMS" are all "source packages", the another one is for binaries. SRCPMS are used when you want to compile the software for yourself.

I believe creating an e-mail server you have to do some compiling.

nope... you need to install an e-mail server, as postfix, sendmail, exim, etc. (take a look to the binary CDs and search for a file *postfix*.rpm or *exim*.rpm *sendmail*.rpm) so you can install the binary or compile from source... easy way: binary install.

After install you need to *configure* (not *compile*).

C4 comes with just about every server you can think of, web, mail (which includes smtp, pop3 and imap), ftp, proxy, telnet, ssh and dns just to name a few. You don't have to compile any of them, If you have a GUI installed, you can use the Add/Remove Package tool.

Can we use Fedora as a regular server and use it as an e-mail server using the fallowing packages?

exmin
openldap
squirrel
courier-imap

You will have to install exim and courier-imap. C4 comes with sendmail and dovecot which is a POP3 and IMAP server. If you are new at this and want to install all these servers, you may really want to take a look at webmin. Webmin lets you administer your servers and entire system remotely through your web browser. It puts all the tools you need in one place and makes it a lot easier and faster to configure everything. You can find it at

Would a new thread be valuable here? This one's 25 responses long and has most certainly changed topic. A suggestion.
