I have this problem:

I have 2 types of printer - a hp laserjet 2200 and laserjet 1100. The former has advanced features that enables one to fit a page layout to any paper size from any software. This is not true as far as HP laserjet 1100, unless of course one uses a software with such features, such as ms-excel.

I believe this is a software driven feature. Does someone know any utility out there that can enable me fit a page to a paper size without buying a new printer?

Please help

Try using the same driver, and just pointing to the other printer in the driver. Eventually make a copy of that driver and have one for each printer [wink]

Thanx for your response, hpwizzard. Are you saying that I can try installing hp laser 2200 drivers and then pysically connect hp laser 1100 printer to it instead? Wouldn't this bring compatibility issues and result into gargabe printing?

Actually yes. If the driver for the 2200 doesn`t work, an old Laserjet 4MP might do as it considered to be a sort of unversal driver that fits most of HP`s laserjet printers.

So no solution yet? I downloaded Fineprint trial to check out the features but it only has multiple page printing, booklet printing ... A similar but specific utility would help. any link any where out there?

Have you tried to set the papersize to custom, and see what happens ? Both the LJ1100 and LJ2200 has a minimum and maximum papersize. Check that your size is within that range.
