first item in pick list already picked

I am having a problem running my crystal reports. When I access them via the web using the activeX control, the first item in the picklist (for multiple value parameters) is already picked when the user is asked for the value. What's going on and how do I fix it?

I originally posted this question in a CR forum, which is here thread149-387374 but I didn't get much help as of yet, so I'd see if anybody here could help out. Check out the other thread for a cool "graphic" of what I am experiencing.
