I put in my first BCM today. Not my idea, customer had a BCM 1000 version 2.5 that they wanted to deploy. 5 phones, 4 CO lines. I was a bit bewildered by the slooow Java applet (My laptop is a PIII 466mhz) Each time I went to make a change to a phone it was a bit cumbersome. And I felt the interface was hard to use. to add a line to appear and ring, you go to line selection and then click on Add discretely tucked away in the top left corner. then a popup appeared. duh.
The serial interface should let you make more configuration changes, it was a bit faster.
Perhaps the newer BCMs are better, please comment.
I still like the Norstar better. Give it a web based FastRad and (like someone else wrote here) it will be good for another 10 years.
