Hey Guys,

I've got a 406 at 3.1 right now. How high should or could I go? Any problems I might run into? Insight?

Also, any idea what version Visual Voice was implemented? I like the looks of it. I am assuming it is compatible with 5410 phones?

Thanks for the info guys!

Daniel

what type of 406 is what will matter. 406V1 will only go to 3.2. A 406V2 PCS7 or lower is the same thing and 406v2 PCS8 or better can go to 4.1. I have not installed many 4.1 sites but from what i have read it is good. Ihave been using 4.0.14 and it has been real good so far.

Physical inspection? It hurts so bad!

I have a V2 PSC6 so I guess 3.2 is my glass ceiling?

Thanks.

What about upgrading VMPro? I'm guessing upgrade corresponding releases? Or would it be okay to skip a release? I ask because my IPO is at 3.1 but my VMPro is at 3.0 for some reason, and I can't find the download for VMPro 3.1. Would it cause drama if I upgraded it strait to 3.2 if I also upgrade the IPO to 3.2?

Thanks,
Daniel

visual voice was implemented in 4.o and is compatable with 5410's. there was a procedure in place to get an upgrade to a newer 406 but i do not know if it is still active. you would need to call your business partner.

Avaya do offer a free swap out on 406DS units that do not have enough ram for v4+

The free swap is good, but you have to send your unit away so you won't have a phone system until it comes back with more memory (at least that's how it is in the UK).

We replace the customer unit with a 64MB one and we sort out the upgrade.

Ask your BP about it.

Or just go to 3.2 and leave it there!!!!

I needed to send a couple of units to Avaya Repair for memory upgrade but was sent advance replacements. Therefore minimum down time for the customer. The old unit has to be sent back within certain time-scales.

It is easy to see if you have enough memory

Open monitor and look for this:

RES: Fri 3/2/2007 13:43:29 FreeMem=43346748(16) CMMsg=6 (6) Buff=100 520 500 520 1 Links=4194

This indicates that is has left 43 MB memory wich will say it has 64MB instead of 16MB

The swap program they send you the new one first here in the US and then you have a certain amount of time before the old one has to be back.

Thanks for the replies guys!

That is awesome that I can get a free upgrade to the higher memory unit! Especially if kwing112000 is correct. Otherwise I will have to go through a BP, which is very sad because all of the local Avaya BPs around Idaho really really suck.

Example: We had them upgrade the firmware and Admin Suite to 3.1 from 3.0. The upgrades went fine, but then we started having licensing server issues (they deleted the license server IP in the config). To try and resolve this, the downgraded the manager to 3.0 but left the firmware at 3.1 and didn't tell us. We then started having crashes every time we tried to merge a config. I finally figured out what the problem was and fixed it before they could. RETARDS.

Thanks for the help guys! The Avaya Tek-Tips Forum is a life saver thanks to you all!

Are there any major changes I should be looking for when upgrading from 3.1 to 3.2 for firmware, Manager, and VMPRO? Any advice or insight would be welcome!
