Hi,

I need to upgrade firmware for my 9620 phone. I have s8300/g700 CM 3 platform. Can I upload the firmware files to the server? And have my S8300 Ip address as file server?

Thanks alot. Please give me best way how to do it.

yes. You can use the S8300 as the file server. Works well for a small number of phones.

Does it really require to upload firmware before I can make my new 9620 working? Because I have CM3 and it doesnt have option for 96 series.

I'm running CM3 and my 96xx firmware is 2.0, I'm pretty sure you can't go higher than 2.0, I tried 3.0 last week and it wouldn't work.

Are there new features you want on the handset? If not I would leave the firmware as is!

There are 2 different things going on here.
1/ The ACM version you have dosn't know about 96xx phones.
Best way around this is to check for CM patches, in the meantime use the alias command and alias 96xx phones as the equivalent 46xx models.
2/ The latest firmware for 96xx is 3.1, but if you use this make sure you also update your 46xxsettings.txt file with the one dated 16th November, as there are new fields relating to 3.1 firmware.
Load handset firmware from your https or ftp server that the 46xxsettings.txt file resides on.

Don't use FW3.1. Its buggy. The backlight never turns off. Crappy.

Just alias your 9620 as 4620 on CM3 loads.

As far as FW3.002 on CM3.X. You need to state what load you are working with. That admin guide states that anything less then R13x.01.2.639.1 is not supported. The phone will upgrade but you wont be able to log in.

there is a Sun/Moon soft key on 3.1 that dims the backlight, and there is a setting on the new 46xxsettings file to turn on/off the backlight SETBACKLIGHT

I have seen the sun/moon once on one phone since Nov 16th when I upgraded my test phones and I haven't seen it since. Besides the sun/moon only dims the backlight. It doesn't turn it off. As far as SET BAKLIGHTOFF 120. Thats always been in the 46xxsetting.txt file but it doesn't do anything with FW3.1

phoneguy55, on 9620/9630/9650 phones, they only dim now, on the 9640 color display, the dim button actually turns the display off completly.

I am new to the CM area but am trying to set up g350/8300 with 9610 phones and want to use the 8300 as the DHCP/HTTP server.. I am running 5.2CM I have loaded the latest 46xxxsettings file and the 96xxx files on the server but for some reason the phones will not upgrade.. If I use another HTTP server on my laptop they do upgrade... I have been over the settings many times but do not see what I am missing... I se arefer about the Nov 16th 46xxxx files on here...

Any help would be appriciated.

1st, you are threadjacking. Besides that, there is almost no point in even bothering with upgrading 9610 IP phones, they are next to useless. They have fewer features than a standard 2500 analog set. You cannot transfer, you cannot place calls on hold, they are totally useless...

How to know the firmware of my new 9620's? Because ot will keep on discovering. Maybe because I have CM3.1.2 and the firmware of the phone is 3.0.. Please advice. If needs to downgrade then how?
