We have an older IP Office box (R8) and lately the newest handsets we've purchased (9608G) have been coming with firmware version 6.6. There is some kind of incompatibility with the IP Office we have as after the initial setup if we reboot the phone it is detected as a 4624, which makes the handsets pretty useless as the buttons and screen functions are all wrong. If we do a system clear and reenter the extension it will be fine again until the next reboot. Normally the phone should downgrade itself but these latest phones don't seem to do that. I've been working with our vendor who has not provided a solution yet. Any ideas how to get this working?

You will need to upgrade your ipoffice.
Your version does not support those phones yet.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

We have 9608G phones on lower firmwares that work fine. Is there no way to downgrade the firmware to match the models that work? They are on firmware 6.2

No, once phones are on 6.6 they can not be downgraded below 6.6. This has been discussed previously on this forum and I believe is stated in the 6.6 documentation. The older 9608 could be downgraded but the new ones (for sure 17 and I think some/most/all of the 16) won't downgrade.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Thanks for the info. I am now livid with our vendor for selling us phones that won't work with our version of IP Office. They know what version of IP Office we are on.

have them spring for an upgrade license then, good luck

They should either take the phones back or upgrade your IP Office. If they like keeping customers I would upgrade the switch and be a hero for a little money.

Absolutly
The phones they have sold are "Not Fit for Purpose" & as such the BP has an obligation to either replace them with handsets that do work or upgrade the system.

I assume that you did not take out IPOSS at the time as if you had (& kept it up-todate) you would be entitled to a free upgrade licence anyway)

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Looks like they will be swapping out the phones for compatible ones.
