Hi mate i'm getting the same problem and can't find anyone to help. Have you solved the problem yet? If so could you help me please.

yes i did, i was exporting the menu incorrectly. open the help file on exporting a fireworks menu into dreamweaver and follow it step by step and you should be good.

I have and it keeps saying the same thing or it says 'the selected file is not the correct format . Please select an html file which was exported from Fireworks even though it was.
I must be doing something wrong when saving. what was wrong for you. Please help I have had this problem for two months now and it would take a big weight off my shoulder. Cheers!

It's not up yet, I'm working on it offline. I did it before and it worked fine but now when I try to import a Fireworks html page into dreamweaver and that comment comes up or the javascript error about line 461.

The only thing I can tell you is to check your code, make sure you don't have more then one reference to mm_menu.js.

When you export the html file from fireworks, can you open that and view the menu? Or is it only when you try to put the menu code in a page that you built?

If that is the case then the problem lies in your path.

Open FW, open your menu png, then export to the same folder that houses your html file that you want to have the menu. Once you open the file you want to put the menu in, find your spot and click the FW button on the toolbar, thiss will insert your images and javascript and proper path to the mm_menu.js.

If that still doesn't work, you may want to check your java logging settings. you may have an error in your browser settings.

Hope that helps

Cheers mate i'll check that out. It may be that I do have more then one file called mm_menu.js or more than one reference to that file. Thanks again if I there is still a problem I may have to get in contact again.

Hi there. Has anybody managed to resolve this one yet? I'm getting it too. I have exported the pop up menu as HTML from Fireworks 2004 and I am trying to import into DWeaver MX. I get exactly the same error when I try to insert the Fireworks HTML into my Dreamweaver site.

If I open the exported HTML directly into my browser it works perfectly fine!

Any ideas folks?

Andy.

First, go in and delete all the files you exported. If you leave them there it will mess things up.

Then reopen your menu in Fireworks, when you export, export the html file into the same folder as your page you want the menu to be on. Check the box for exporting image into a subfolder.

Then open your page that you want the menu on, and use the fireworks button on the common panel. Then place your menu. This should do the trick. The error comes up becuase the path is incorrect. If you try to save the menu to a diffrerent directory as the html page, it can't find the menu.js file. Therefore your gifs show up, but not the rollover images.

I'm having the same problem and have tried everything suggested with no luck. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Stefanie

The problem may be that you cannot import Fireworks MX 2004 html into Dreamweaver MX (not MX 2004) as they are not backwards compatible.

This is from the Macromedia site:

"The HTML file exported from Fireworks includes a comment tag that specifies the version of Fireworks being used and the version of Dreamweaver assumed to be the target. As Dreamweaver imports the file (this is done when you use the Insert > Interactive > Images > Fireworks HTML command), Dreamweaver validates the Fireworks HTML version number. Dreamweaver MX does not recognize Fireworks 2004 as indicated in the comment tag, and it gives an error."
