I have a small LAN with 85 users, OWA, and a static webpage that issoon to be used for online order taking and employee access to HR documents.
we currnetly use our 2610 router for firewall and VPN access (less than 10), but I fear that we are asking too much of our router.
I would like to purchase a Firewall/VPN appliance to take some of the bourden off of the router and to better lock down our LAN and web presence. Given the type of LAN I have what appliance would you people recommend? I have been looking at the Wathchgaurd Firebox1000, and it seems good, I have also been looking at the Pix 515e and also seems good, we have all Cisco routers and switrches so it would be nice to get the PIX but I'm not sure if is as user friendly as the Firebox. Any Suggstions?
thanks
Alex

I support several PIXes of differing sizes. I have also dealt with a few of the firewall appliances, including a Watchguard box.

The PIX OS is similar to IOS in a lot of ways. There will be a learning curve involved; however, Cisco provides some of the best technical documentation and support I have ever used.

The Watchguard box was good but I was not real impressed with the documentation or support. This was a couple of years ago and they have probably improved but I still like my PIXes.

Remember this is just my opinion and your experiences may differ. Cheers
