I have a Definity g3si phone switch.

I have a phone jack in the wall in an office cube.
I do not want to "tone" or "trace" the line all the way back to the phone switch to find out what port it is punched or "cross connect" to.

Is there a series of keystrokes on the phone I can do to find its port or put an extenion on the line?

So really... I have a solid phone line from an office to the switch.
What are my options of finding its port, and putting an extension on it.

TTI is your answer.
Verify in change system-parameters features that TTI is enabled and locate the security code.
Then go to display feature-access-codes and get the Terminal Translation Initialization Merge Code.
In the PBX make the port X. Then go to the phone and enter the TTI code, then the security code, then the extension you want to be on that phone. DONE

You can tti in a "dummy" or spare extension. Then look in your switch for the access code for self-station identifier. Enter that code in the phone & that will give you the same extension and the associated port.

On a switch with an attendant you can call the attendant from an unassigned port and the port Id will show on the console

If I understand ur qtn correctly then here is the ans:

u can login to the system and use "Disp sta <station number>" to check for PORT field.

Look in the feature access table "change feature" for self station display activation. If there isn't feature access code there add one.

Use this code on a phone, just dial it, the phone will then display the hard port number or ip address of an IP phone.

I usually have someone call my station from that phone. I can status my set and see the connecting port. Done deal..

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

Thank you all so much.
All of this has saved me a great deal of time.

Just do a "list trace station xxxx" on the system. xxxx being a station you call from that phone.

in the list trace it will tell you what extension is calling the station you are tracing.

once you have that info you can just display the station and get the port number.
