IS there a good web site to download new winform controls. I really like the looks of some of the new buttons I see but have no idea where to get them from. If at all possible I would prefer free controls :)

There has been a thing on MSDN.Microsoft.com lately about some VB.Net "resource pack" or something like that with supposedly $800 worth of free code and controls. You might check it out.

Yes it is free.

And yes there are some great controls.

Micorsoft has partnered with a couple of componant companies (Infragistics and Componant One) to intice more people to move to .Net. Make sure you take atvantace of this before it goes away.

Here is a link to it.

And here is what it contains:

The resource pack comes with the following full release controls and another host of useful stuff.

ComponentOne Studio Enterprise
A comprehensive collection of more than 30 high-quality WinForms and ASP.NET Web controls including grid components, reporting components, charting components, data components, user-interface components, and e-commerce components.
Dundas Chart For Windows Forms, Professional Edition
Developed for rich-client .NET applications, this fully-managed charting control gives you all the features of a premium charting control. This functionality combined with incredible design-time support allows for the fast and easy creation of sensational looking charts that have the exact look and feel that you require.
Infragistics UltraWebNavigator and UltraWinTree Controls
UltraWinTree delivers an advanced .NET tree control that surpasses the look and functionality of the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET TreeView control. UltraWebNavigator is the first tool to provide a simple, easy-to-use designer to create menu and tree hierarchies, making it possible for Web masters and non-programmers to build eye-popping navigation systems and outlines visually, without writing code.
Sax Software Corp
Sax.net Communications makes it easy to add scalable serial communications to all your .NET applications.

Thanks, already have those, what i am realy looking for is the new buttons, and other color enhanced controls like the ones seen on many XP programs and web pages. For instance, the buttons and check boxes on this web page.

Also, looking at all the stuff in the resource kit, it tells me it is free ... for 30 days, then you have to buy it.

What buttons and checkboxes on this page are you talking about? The only buttons I see are normal ASP style buttons.

I see buttons with rounded corners, that highlight in colors (blue if they have focus, yellow when you hover over them) and the check boxes have green checks in them. and I have seen group boxes with rounded corners on the lines. But all my apps only have the old plain square type buttons.

You may be talking about the Infragistics web controls. They give you this kind of control over buttons. The Infragistics NetAdvantage subscription is not free but well worth it if you're looking into buying a control package.

Thank you, when I guess I will have to wait till I can afford the invest ment :)

How does infragistics do with windows forms(not web) as far as nice controls?

Ya know, I hate to sound like a complete ass, but...

I see buttons with rounded corners, that highlight in colors (blue if they have focus, yellow when you hover over them) and the check boxes have green checks in them. and I have seen group boxes with rounded corners on the lines

Is an exact description of the default Windows XP Theme. No special controls, just right click on your desktop, select properties, click the "Themes" tab, and select "Windows XP" for the rounded, or "Windows Classic" for the old style.
