I have been trying to find out the manufacturer of my video cad to check if it supports AGP 2x, and have not been successful thus far.
My BIOS supports AGP 2x, but when I download a driver to enable my AGP which before downloading driver to enable AGP, it show that AGP speeed is 2x, the AGP is enabled, but only at 1x speed.
I have been told that the first thing to determine is whether or not my video card supports ADP 2x.
With out know what card I have, makes impossible to tell.
I have used Aida32 to check this, and maybe I missed somthing, but I could not find where it gave this information.
My system properties are:
1.Motherboard Chipset: VIA VT82C693A Apollo Pro133
2.Memory Slots Dram Slot #1 128MB (PC133 Sdram)
3. AGP Version: 1.00
4. AGP Status: Enabled
5. Supported Agp Speeds: 1x, 2x
6. Current AGP Speed: 1x
7. Fast-write: Not supported
8. Side Band Addressing: Supported, Disabled
9. Chipset Manu. VIA Technologies, Inc.
Note at bottom of Aida32 report says "Current AGP speed is lower than maximum supported. This may cause performance penalty"
How do I get 2x speed, and is it possible to get it at all?
Thank you

Check your BIOS for the AGP Apeture size, and make sure its set to 32MB or greater, because anything less will limit the AGP to 1X.

Check that and let us know!

Cheers!

My BIOS apeture is set at 32MB. Thanks, I should have included that the first timt

Assuming this is onboard Video, what memory is allocated to the Video? Try increasing it.
