Hi,
I am planning on reformatting my C:\ and installing Win XP Pro (i have it on cd and the bootdisks i need) however i do not feel that all my things are plug and play compatible and as it is an old works model the motherboard etc drivers are not there for me. So where would i find them and how would i go about restoring these to a new system
im on win98se now

Your 98se drivers will not work with XP. Xp has a large driver database to install hardware but some of your legacy stuf may not work anymore. A lot of updated drivers are now available from third party software companies for xp, but not for everything. You can do a compatibility check from microsoft to see how well your computer will upgrade. It scans your hardware and software and generates a list of compatible/non-compatible hardware/software on your machine.

Hi;
You could try this site which has a free version of a program that finds the drivers on your system, and lets you make a back up copy of them. As per the last reply, some may not work with XP, but some may

what is the microsoft testing site adress i would be interested in doin that

You can perform the check from the xp cd, set your bios to boot from the cd, and the test should be one of the options available...

i have decided against XP on this pc and wondered how easy it would be to wipe the whole pc's data but say keep the driver files and then reinstall 98se (i think i will sell this one on!) then there would be a clean pc with all driver files

so where do i find them?
