I work in a law firm that uses distribution lists for just about every type of mass communication. Most of the attorneys have their e-mails/appointments forwarded to their respective assistant(s).

Yesterday, an assistant sent out a meeting planner to several different distribution groups. A short while later, she received an "undeliverable" message saying that the message did not reach user so and so. Come to find out, this person no longer works in the firm and the person she used to work for no longer works in the firm.

I've gone through each of the attorney's in the groups and looked at their permissions, hoping to find the assistant's name in there somewhere. But no such luck. I also check each of their rules. No luck there either.

Is there something I'm missing or any other place(s) I could find this person? Does it need to be done from the Exchange Server?

Thanks in advance,
Jessica Morgan

I think this is something your network administrator needs to sort out on the global address list on Exchange.

I guess I need to change my title on this board. I'm the HelpDesk here. Boss is too busy to help, so I was trying to figure this out without him.

Sounds like you might have an orphan delegate rule stuck somewhere... This is the official fix:

To resolve this problem, use the MDBView utility to identify the delegate rules and remove them. The Outlook delegate rules are stored in the Inbox folder.

The delegate rule is an item in the Associated Messages in FLD window, in the CB entry, and has a description of "Schedule + EMS Interface."

To remove delegate rules by using the MDBView utility:
- Start the MDBView utility, click MAPI_Explicit_PROFILE, and then click OK.
- Click the profile name of the user whose mailbox contains the delegate rule.
- On the MDB menu, click Open Message Store. In the Store Display Name pane, click the user's mailbox, and then click Open.
- On the MDB menu, click Open Root Folder.
- In the root folder, double-click the Top of Information Store folder.
- Double-click the Inbox folder.
- In the Associated message in FLD window, double-click to open each message until you find a message with "Schedule + EMS Interface" in the properties (the bottom window in the dialog).
- Close this message to return the focus to the list.
- To delete this message, in the Associated Message In FLD window, click to select the message. In the Operations Available box, click the lpFLD->DeleteMessages(). Click Call Function and then click OK to confirm the deletion. The message is deleted.

Hope that helps...

Charlotte,

I'm assuming this needs to be done from the Exchanger server. Is this correct? I was looking for that server the other day. I think it may be located in one of our other offices. I'll have to e-mail your above instructions to our IT people there. Thank you very much for you help.
