Hi all,

I am using Delphi 2005 Architect edition. Recently, the find utility has stopped working. I can find local references but when I try to find references to method, the find dialog shows 'finding candidate files' but no results are shown.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Bump.

Really need some help on this as it is really slowing down any work I do.

You need to be a bit clearer, do you mean that you are trying to search for text in your code?
If so, it sounds like you are using the 'find in files' tab and you should be on the 'find' tab.

Steve: Delphi a feersum engin indeed.

When I am viewing my code, I can select a method reference that is declared elsewhere. If I right-click on the selected word, at the bottom of the context menu that appears is a find option with 3 submenu options:

1. Find references to method 'aaa'
2. Find Local references to method 'aaa'
3. Find declaration of method 'aaa' in 'bbb'

Submenu options 2 & 3 work fine but the first option to find references just opens a panel with a message:

'Finding candidate files...' then nothing else. No references are listed.

Any ideas?

Sorry Sarah, I am using D7 and it dosnt seem to have this feature.
Have you looked on the Borland website for possible fixes for this? Could be a new product bug? or maybe someone else can help now we have a bit more info.

I have googled this many times and can't find any solution. I can't find anything on the borland site either.

Hopefully someone here can help.

Thanks

sarah, did you install update 3 for D2005??

Yes. I installed updates 2 & 3 about a week ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if update 2 has something to do with this error.

try to do a clean install, check if it's working then load update 2 & 3 and recheck.

Sorry for the long delay but after I did a clean install, then installed updates 2 & 3, it works again.
