Hi All, I appreciate everyone's help in here. I just joined but have learned alot from reading the past messages!

My issue: A web server (Apache 1.3.28) with a ton of virtual hosts, each located in the user's directory (I know, ill advised, but that's not my current problem :)

The server has all of a sudden began slowing down due to an extreme load from somewhere, so I am figuring one of the clients had their site slashdotted or something.

My question: how can I find out the source (well, the destination!) of the traffic? With separate log files and hundreds of hosts, it would seem maybe there's a better way.

If I could figure out more about the Apache processes that have spawned and what they are going after, I think that would highlight my problem user.

Any tips in this area would be welcomed :)

Bill

Do you not have a log analizer set into place?
Like webalizer. Otherwise just write you a little
bash script that looks at how many times the
sites are hit and how much data it it sending.

You should be able to do this with some simple
grep and cut commands.
