find IP of switch?

Hi not sure what forum to put this in??

we have purchased a DEll powerconnect 3024 second hand

WE need to get the IP address to manage it via a browser, the default does not work 192.168.0.1

how can you determine a devices IP address when you do not know it? help please, thanks

No its not. You'll need to get yourself a null modem cable, it will have serial DB9 connectors on both ends.

Shot in the dark..is there a reset button on teh switch to default it?..that would set it back to the factory defaults and also reset the password (won't you be SUPER happy if you finally get the IP and then can't get past the password for login!?)...
