'Find in page' script alternative (continued)

In thread ChrisRChamberlain posted a useful script and then feherke posted a fix for Firefox. The thread dates from January 2009 and is now closed.

On my system (Windows XP, Fx 3.6.10) this fix does not work. Is an update needed for Firefox 3?

Update: in Firefox 3.6.10 I get a hangup if the string is not found.
