Hi
I am trying to use tapeutil to find drive status like if drive is empty or loaded in AIX. Is there way using tapeutil , can i find out ?

THX

tapeutil -f /dev/smc0 inventory > tapes.txt

I do that... then I look in the file and after the i/o slots you will see the drives.. .and you will see a volser if there is a tape in it.. assuming the lib is /dev/smc0

Hi
Probablydown
Above commands run inventory on entire library. Is there a way to just run inventory on drives ?

THX

Ya I know... I run that then I checked the drives in that file the inventory generated... shows mounted tapes too...

Not sure what else you would try... Now I just go on the LTO GUI and look.

Hi

What about:

tapeutil -f /dev/rmt0 density

I lifted that out of the user guide for Atape ...

Cheers

Have Fun !
