Please Help,
I am running Exhange 5.5 on a NT BDC. I back it up using Backup Exec 9.1. BE is running on my file server which is a Win 2000 member server.

It has been running fine for about a 6 months, but last week i got the following error.

Backup - \\servername\MicrosoftExchange Information Store. Access Denied to database. 0xa0008488 - Access is Denied.

What have i done about it?
Restarted Exchange server.
Restarted File server.
Made sure Backup service account is in Domain Admins and is Exch Admin at highest level. (started Exchange Info Store service with this account to make sure it has the right permissions).
Stopped all anti virus whilst performing backups.
Used exchange service account to perform the backup of exchange.

Anyone got any ideas
Thanks
Tim

hi tjsluey (IS/IT--Management),

Seems you have a problem that I last week. Get a copy of SQL 2000 and install Enterprise Manager from the CD.
open Enterprise Manager and open a new connection using yourservernam\BKUPEXEC as an administrator.
Develop the windows to see the data base and then click right on it and select detach.
The icon of the backup exec db will disappear.
Not to worry!
Click right at the next highest level and do an attach using attach yourservernam\BKUPEXEC this should set up the dcom connection which was broken or corrupt.

Thanks Jockfrog, but this might sound a bit silly but is this done on Exch server or Backup Server. Not had any experience with SQL.

Cheers
Tim
