filtering linked forms

i have set up the filter for a subform ([corporateID]=x)but the subform opens with an empty record even though i know that there is data associated with the parent form. <br><br>Slightly bemused, what else should i be doing?<br><br>alex

i'm not sure what you mean. should say i am very new to access so please be gentle:)<br><br>what i have is a form with command buttons opening five further forms. all of the subforms havea field which corresponds to the primary record id. <br><br>in the data properties&nbsp;&nbsp;of subforms the control source is set to the id of the original record. <br><br>what is happening is that the form opens when the command button is clicked but doesn't display the data i want, it displays an empty form.<br><br>i have posted a couple of threads over the last couple of days relating to forms and sub forms and am slowly getting my head round the whole thing but not quite......
