Does anybody know how to accomplish the following -

I have a report scheduled and delivered via CE that runs which a range of parameters.
When the users views this instances (ie DOESN'T run a new copy of the report) they would like to be able to re-enter one or more of the parameters to see only a sub-set of the report. This would be the same result as them running the report from scratch but would not hit the database - it would use the saved data instead.

Many thanks for any assistance.

Can't you do this from one of the viewers by doing a post-select filter? The Info Analyzer used to have that capability.

Just a thought.

Yes ... and no. The offline viewer allows you to apply additional filters but does not restrict which fields you can filter on. I would like to be able to only allow filtering on specific fields - the same ones that are parameters in the original report.

you could write a ASP/CSP page that would ask the user to enter the parameters that you wanted and then pass those through on the URL using the prompt parameter. the web developers guide shows you how to pass this though if you look up the report viewer parameter section. as long as you're not asking for more data than the report contains you should be able to do what you are after.

Another approach you could take would be to apply selection formula when you make the request for the particular report instance.

As you make your request for the particular instance ID, put a SF on the request such as;

The above example will apply to Selection Formula to the report instance returning you data where table.username =jsmith.

I hope that helps!
