How hard is it to filter and squash attachments.

For exmample, with the Readme.exe virus going around, I'd like to just not allow any e-mails with attachments into my network until Norton (or whomever) comes out with patch to squash that virus. I would still like to be able to recieve normal e-mails without attachments.

I'm going to hit MS's web site to see if I can find out how to do this but if it's simple and anybody knows how I'd love to learn.

thanks.

Woe is me...nobody ever answers my questions. I'm gonna go eat some worms.

You can add info to the registry on the Exchange server that will exclude certain attachment extensions. For example..*.exe, *.vbs, etc. I have the details if you are interested

Hi,

Why not use antivirus software for Exchange... here are some that blocks attachments at will... and more...

Sybari Antigen (SMTP)
Trend Scanmail (SMTP)
Trend VirusWall (SMTP,HTTP,FTP)

these are the only good ones, we use Trend Scanmail on Exchange servers and VirusWall on a Sun Solaris server :)

greetings :D
