im using corel draw 11, and i cant seem to fill in blocks of colour, i have exproted an autocad file. i cant fill individual boxes because corel sees the image as one large image, i had to make boxes where i wanted the colour which took forever. i want to just fill parts of my image like you can in paint! there must be a way.

Is it possible for Your drawing to use Arrange -> Break Apart / Ungroup?

yeah ive looked about on this forum and found someone who does that... i tryed it, but you end up with loads of lines that you need to join up anyway, doing it my way was quicker that doing all that. (just creating anonter block and filling it in.)

it seams crazy that corel draw doesnt have the feature of just filling between the lines. i can do it in photoshop but the quality of the image is not high enough

Such options are common in bitmap graphics (like Photoshop, Photo Paint, Fireworks etc.)
In vector graphics You need to create object first.
-------------
At the same time its possible to draw nice 3D objects directly in Corel Draw if You familiar with Extrusion Tools, Slanted Guidelines, Snap to Objects, Effects->Perspective Tool, Gradient Tool.
You can even rotate objects, use lights, bevels etc.

yeah.... well i worked out a way to get round it... if you export it from corel as a jpg, you can fill the colour in photoshop, then send it back.... it does reduce the quality, but not much. cheers for your help

You're confusing a bitmap application with a vector application. To fill an object in Draw, the object has to be a closed object. Just taking 4 separate lines and making what looks to be a "square" is not making a square. It's 4 separate objects aligned in a particular fashion. So how did you export the AutoCAD file? i.e., what format? If you exported it out as a bitmap (any type of bitmap), then yes, it *is* all just one image and you're not going to be able to do much with it. Try exporting it out as a DWG file with polylines... although to be honest, Draw is not a CAD application and will not work in the same fashion. If you're trying to do technical drawings, take a look at for plug-ins to Draw for this type of work. has some plug-ins for this, too.
