I have filled a worksheet with most of my exported data but i have left an empty column that now needs a generated number that i would normally fill manually,

in Excel I would enter 10000 in cell a2 then in a3 a2+1 and than copy this down to the last row of data.

Is it possible to add this step to my package?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ben

Go to your SQL table, rightclick and go to Design table.

Highlight this column and make it an Identity. Use the Seed field to enter what # you want the autogenerate to start with, then in Increment, leave it as 1 so that it will add 1 to every number. Remove the check mark from the Allow Nulls box on this column.

Run DTS job as normal and SQL will fill in the autonumber itself.
