Hello All,
I would like to tell when a bosboot is required before installing a fileset. I know that performing a 'prev' does not tell you and I know that the information is in the .toc file but not quite sure where.
When I view a .toc file all the filesets have some flags, ie :

U b B (etc)

Would one of the "b's" mean reboot required, how do I find out ?
cheers
Benno

...it really does get worse than this !!

Found this a few months ago on IBM website -

The following will allow you to check AIX filesets prior to installation to ascertain if a bosboot and reboot are needed as part of the install. This information is not shown as part of a preview of the installation

Column Q is what you are interested in.

A Y indicates that running processes can be affected by the installation of this fileset. An N indicates that running processes are not affected by the installation of this fileset. A B indicates bosboot and quiescent. A b indicates bosboot and not quiescent.

server1(root)# installp -l -d .
