I have set up a Mac OS X Version 10.4.3 laptop on which fileMaker pro 7.0v3
is installed as webserver of a fileMaker pro database (called book).

I intent to use Instant Web Publishing (IWP) to publish my book database on
a website. I have had the static IP address of my laptop - that is currently
not connected to a router and is hooked directly to the modem via built-in
Ethernet - mapped to a domain name - mahootco.com.

The IP Addresses showing are (configure IPv4: Using DHCP):
IP Address: 24.85.204.192
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 24.85.204.1
DNS Servers: (blank)

I had active-domain.com domain registrar map mahootco.com domain name to
24.85.204.192 IP address and it was successfully done.

I have set all fileMaker pro IWP settings properly so that I can
successfully access the published website using web-browser of the laptop
itself through each of the following 3 links:

setting port to 80 , any of these links would work on the web-browser of the
mac laptop itself (PROBLEM: but the web page would still not display using
another computer connected to internet, typing the same address in the
address bar.I get error 404 page cannot be displayed error.):

setting port to 591, any of these links would work on the web-browser of the
mac laptop itself (PROBLEM: but the web page would still not display using
another computer connected to internet, typing the same address in the
address bar. I get error 404 page cannot be displayed error.):

Firewall is ON. Turning it OFF didn't help.

So...the problem is that I cannot access the website using another computer
connected to interent. The website only displays on the web-browser of the
mac webserver itself.

I had to shut down the computer and re-start after turning off the firewall so that it would work, which I hadn't done before. The problem is fixed!
