I have two apple workstations running Filemaker pro6( the G5 is hosting the database and the IMAC G5 is the remote client) Both are connected in the same office thru 100Mbps ethernet connection. Recently the IMAC has been much slower in retreiving files, I change the cat 5 cable, nothing has changed. I'm a novice to filemaker Pro. Is there anything i can do the clean out the database or any suggestions or links? Thanks so much who helps.

When you say retrieving files, what exactly do you mean? usually when a database works, but operates slowly it has more to do with what's in it than other external factors (usually, but not always). What is it that your database does?

whole lot more info is needed here...your layer1 probably has a little or nothing to do with it.
is there a server or just fm sharing involved?
when was the last time server was...agh...you have to post more if you seriosly need help as this will raise more Qs than answers.
Describe your environment and what the databse does.
All the best!
