I have an app I need to maintain that I didn't develop. Every year we prune the transactions to clear up space and improve performance with the app, but I don't know how to compact or re-index the database to make the file smaller and more efficent. The app has not been compiled and is run in Filemaker Pro 6.04. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Is this just one file or are you talking about several files in one application ?

There are several files in the app, but only one of them needs to be Compacted/Optimized.

No. There are 13 files in the app. Each file has
specific data for the app, like customers, pricebook, etc.
The datafile that needs to be optomized is a transaction log of sales. Once a year it is suppost to be pruned of the previous years sales, which I have done. The datafile stayed the same size and still effects performance.

In file:

File --> Save Copy As ... --> Give FileName (and location) --> Save a: 'Compressed Copy (smaller)--> Save

will remove all the emtpty spots in the file.
