Okay, here's the problem:

I'm running a small site on my machine at home (Win2k Server + IIS5) and all of a sudden, the image files are being served corrupted. The images are showing up in the browser with random artifacts and I have no idea why. (To see what I'm talking about, please point a browser at If you don't see anything odd, do a hard refresh [CTRL+F5] a few times and you'll see what I mean).

I have determined that the problem isn't with IIS, as I installed Apache and the same problem occurred.

Additionally, when I download large files (anthing over 5 megs) the transer sometimes just hangs.

I did notice that the problem occured shortly after I installed Kazaa, which also listens on Port 80 by default. However, I have since completely removed the program and reinstalled all the base files for Win2k Server and re-applied SP3. The only thing I haven't done is uninstall and reinstall the NIC card drivers.

I'm about to lose my mind trying to resolve this most annoying issue. I would appreciate any input.

Interesting. But, indeed the problem could be with yout 80port. Try to change the port, and check if you have same error.
Reinstalling SP in WIndows 2k has no meaning. W2k is using a new tehnique for keeping patches, and you never need to reaply it.
So, check the port again,.. have a look in applications that are running on your PC, and maybe try install an applictaion that is tellig you all port accesses (like a firewall) and you will see who else is accessing your ports. Gia Betiu

I did that already. I switched it to 8080 and the same thing is happening.

When I reinstalled the OS base files, it wiped out all hotfixes and SPs. When I ran WindowsUpdate, it listed all those patches as being unapplied. So, I reapplied them all, but to no avail.

I have a firewall built in to my router, but the machine I'm using is in the DMZ. I moved it out of the DMZ and opened only the bare minimum of ports, but the same problem occured.

Thanks for your help

Okay, I finally figured out what the problem was. For some damn reason, the network card was the source of the trouble. The card was a 3Com Etherlink 3C905-TX, which is quite old but has never given me trouble before now. I switched out that card and put in a Netgear FA311 and the problems disappeared.
