Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 Server running ADS with several clients running Windows XP. I modified the Group Policy a while back so that offline files would synchronize with the server each time a user logs on and off of their PC. Since then, I have switched over to roaming profiles to suit my needs and no longer need file synchronization. Now when I log into some of the clients either as local administrator or domain administrator, it still wants to synchronize the offline files. Some of the domain users are also having the same problem and the file synchronization fails all the time. I DO NOT want to synchronize the files anymore and I've modified the Group Policy to the best of my knowledge to disable this feature. I am pretty sure the problems resides on the clients since I set up the file synchronization but then rebuilt the server again aftewards and did not set up file synchronization....please help!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

yes i have this problem and i found that it does reside in the clients machines the error..the only way i can get round it is to go to each client machine and reset sync :(

How exactly did you reset synchronization? The problem with my clients are they the folders that they are trying to synchronize with no longer exist. This make is very frustrating, because it is a waste of time to try to synchronize when it is absolutely going to fail every time!!

I have experienced the same issue and it does need to be handled on the client side. You can disable offline files by opening My Docs then selecting the "tools" menu and opening "Folder Options". Go to the offline files tab and clear the checkbox for "Enable Offline Files". You will need to do this at all the effected workstations.

Hope this helps!

If i remember i logged into the client off the domain an went into tools sync then setup and removed the un-wanted sync.. you might find doing this in the domain might be needed as well
hope this helps

On the client-side, open up my computer and go to tools | Folder Options. Click on the Offline files tab and uncheck the enable offline files option. This should prevent the pc from attempting to sync in the future.
