I have just started on a new site found that they are running Arcserve 6.61/NT which has been set up to archive the whole of the drive upon which the Exchange server DB files exist. Every time the archive is attempted the .edb files are not archived - the EC says it's a sharing violation - any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

Do you have the ArcserveIT Exchange Agent running?

Thanks Andy for your prompt response.

The answer is no - the guy who set this up set it to backup the whole drive! Is using the exchange agent a better bet?

Thanks again

Either Exchange has to be shut down to do an offline backup or the agent has to be used to do an online backup. One potential problem is that if you don't already have a license for the 6.61 Exchange agent it might be tough to get one.
