I had and end user run into this problem and have since recreated his setup and the problem occurs on my machine as well.
We've got a system that has Office 97 installed in c:\Program Files\office97 and Office 2000 installed in c:\Program Files\office2k. Both versions of office work fine. However we have run into one snag. In Access 97 when we try to use File-Send we get the error: "Microsoft Access can't open mail session. Check your mail application to make sure that it is working properly". We are able to use File-Send in Access 2000 with no problem. We are also able to use File-Send To-Mail Recipient with no problems in Word 97 and Excel 97 as well as Word 2000 and Excel 2000.
This occurs on Windows 98, NT and 2000 using either Outlook or Groupwise as the e-mail program.
I have not found any articles in Microsoft's knowledge base. I'm begining to think that there's nothing to be done, that this is just an unfixable bug, but I wanted to check and see if anyone else had run into this issue and knew of a fix.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
