File Restore on my C drive (HELP NEEDED)

I have made a total school boy error.

There was about 16hrs of work on my c drive that I had saved in excel. Late last night I was saving another file and saved it over the file with 16hrs work on it?

I have came into work this morning realising what I have done.

Is there anyway to restore it? Any help appreciated.

Have got a backup? e-mailed it to somebody? Copied to another hard drive? If you have over written it, without making a copy in some shape of form, then you will no tget it back without professional help (and that is expensive). You mght get lucky with an "un-delete" tool, but don't hold your breath.

You MIGHT get lucky and there MIGHT be a .tmp file on your hard drive associated with the excel worksheet. I'd do a search for *.tmp and see what's there. If it IS there, double click on it to open the file and resave your worksheet. I know this works with Word.

If you have Norton SystemUtilities then you may be able to get it back, but other than that I don't think so.

Do you have windows xp? is there a system restore point set that would re-coup the data in a state that is somewhat helpful to you - check to see when the last restore point was created..Also, show all hidden files, and look in your *olk* folder for it. Good luck!!
