Does anyone know how to change the default user for the File Repository Server Input and File Repository Server Output? I created them with a service account and need to change the LOG ON AS user to a different account. Problem is that it does not allow me to use the second account, and a corresponding error log message says, "System Problem encountered. Failed to setup the root directory \\servername\BOEadmin\BOFileStore\input for use. please make sure there is no sharing violation.

Hi,
First, be sure to use an account that has full file-system rights to the FRS directories.
(
\\servername\BOEadmin\BOFileStore\input
and
\\servername\BOEadmin\BOFileStore\output
) in your case, I imagine.

Then, stop the services ( Input and Output servers) and use that account to run the services..

I tried that with a service account with identical rights, and it will allow the account to APPLY, however; the two services refuse to run. I added the new service account to the ..\input and ..\output shares, but it still will not start.

Does the same for ..\Output.

Hi,
What OS is involved..

Are you using a DOMAIN account to run the Input and output services ?

Recheck that the Domain account has the needed rights ( check the security tab on all the directories and the users and rights for the server itself )..

Its using an AD service account that is an admin to the box. Windows 2003 OS, in mixed mode (2000/2003)

Hi,
are the Input and Output directories on the same box as the services?

If so, use a drive letter and not UNC..
If not, confirm that the AD account is also enabled on the server(s) where they are located..

No...they are on a seperate SQL2K box. I also have a primary and a secondary CMS, along with a report server.

The services account has to have admin rights to the folders of the File Repository in order for this to work. So, not only does it need admin rights on the servers where BO is installed, it also needs admin rights on the server where the file repository is located.
