i need to replicate a few few folders between two 2000 machines to make the second one data a up to date duplicate copy of the first incase we need to fail over to it.

Im looking for a good reliable program that will do this.

This is for 2 W2K servers on a NT domain so if i have been reading corectly DFS will not work. It it will please provide a link so i can use it and save some cash.

thanks.

Check into Robocopy.

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

If you put the folders in the sysvol directory will that do it for you.....?

no, because i do not have a 2000 DC to get DFS running.

Again, check into Robocopy. It'll probably work for you.

how well does Robocopy handle open or locked files?

ok i have been reading about Robocopy. just to make sure i have it correct is this script right?

I want to move folder and files from one server to the backup. and in doing so i want to delete all the files that were copied on the last robocopy run so that i have a true duplicate server.

robocopy c:\progra~1\crystal~1\Enterp~1\filestore\*.* \\servername\filestore /mir

I gave up on robocopy and found a program called AllSync. It rocks. I can tag any machine, any file or folder on that machine and set it up to replicate that data to any machine on the network, at anytime. Then it will email out on the statatus of the replication. Cost 60 bucks and well worth the money
