File replication and NW6 - what software can I use - Please Help me!!!

Hi everyone

I am currently in the process of planning our disaster recovery / business continuity plans.

I know that Netware 5.x had its own file replication services, but they have dropped support in NW6. I was wondering if anyone knew of a product that will allow me to replicate my servers to our DR Site. I know there are products that do Server / volume mirroring, but I would prefer file by file replication in realtime.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Zen for Servers is the closest thing that Novell has. It does 1-way replication. I haven't gotten too far into it, but played with version 2 for policy and some application replication and it worked pretty well. Other than that, some type of disaster recovery product like Vinca might be appropriate. I have no experience with that, though.

If you're talking about offsite replication, watch the bandwidth needs if you have a busy server.

Did you ever had a solution for your DR replication? if not try Doubletake by NSIsoftware.

I thought DoubleTake is for NT/2000 server.

Hi dgerrish -

Just to follow up with ' lgarners' response, the Vinca Standby Server doesn't support Netware 6 - as of Oct.22,02.

However, they do have something called "OFFSite Archive" which sounds like something you may be interested in. Apparently this uses more of a snapshot, then realtime replication.
