Hi
We have net backup 5.1 on windows 2003 server as master/media server when we try to do backups or restores from windows Xp clients it gives Error bpbrm(pid=2816) socket read failed, An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (10054) file read failed (13), I have tried everything but I still get this error :(

Any ideas please?

No I didn't fix the problem;
Yes I can resolve the hostname and the IP address from both direction;

Well it has been a while since I tried to backup from xp client, now I need to backup from one, and the problem is still there. I used wildpackets etherpeek to see what is going on between the server and the client, and there was a strange message "insufficient client" and "server slow response" , so I tried to adjust the client and the server setting but it didn't work :(

An earlier post you made indicated that you had switched out Network adapters and a switch. Did you switch out the adapter on the client or the Master?

Just grabbing at Straws here but since you are using a Windows 2003 Master there may be an issue with TOE. There are a number of Broadcom chipset adapters that have issues with the Windows Scalable Network Pack that comes with Windows 2003 SP2.

See and
