File Permissions Question

I am trying to setup a share that would allow users to read, write and execute files. The thing is, I do not want the users to be able to change files that have been added to this share.

It seems like it should be fairly straight forward, but I cannot get it to work right. I can setup a share that allows read, write and change.

Any ideas on this? Am I missing something???

Set share permissions to "everyone" read and write
Set file permissions to "Creative Owner" - Modify
"Everyone" - Read.
"Everyone" - Deny Delete

This will allow users to read existing docs, and publish new docs, and change their own docss, but no-one can delete.

That seems like it would help with most of the things that I am looking for, but I would not want the creator to be able to change or delete a file that has been added either.

Basically, I want everyone to be able to read, write and execute, but I do not want anyone to be able to change the data, once it has been written to the share.

Does that make sense? If anyone wants to change the data of a file, they have to copy the file and make edits to that new file.

these settings will do that. The DENY overrides any grants. So by setting everyone to DENY delete, then even the creative owner can't delete his own stuff.

However, you need to be careful that someone doesn't try to create a file within the folder then rename it in the same directory. ie. Right click, New text Document, then try to rename. It will not allow that, "access denied".

does not seem to be doing what I thought it would do. If I set the permissions like listed above, I cannot add a file to the directory in question. If I create a file there, I cannot rename. There has to be a way to do this??

any other ideas out there?
