Hi
I have tried everything to enable write permissions on my XP Pro NTFS . If I map a drive letter on my local machine (stand alone, I am administrator) I can't get it to work. I have shared a folder on my C drive as G. Security is set to enable me full control as admin, creator, and user. I am the only login, and have set a password. Simple File Sharing is obviously OFF. I have followed MS instructions for file sharing. My office desk backs onto a wall so I cannot heave the computer out the window as am tempted to do, so might as well persevere... can you help?
The problem has been noticed for months but today I got stuck into it cos I need it,.. NOW. tks and have a better day.

Is this for a network? Are you able to create, copy or modify files locally, not on a share?

Hi Thank you . Yes I can write locally. The document sent by bcastner was great and fixed my problem. I had to the set PERMISSIONS on the Sharing tab. I have overlooked this in favour of the SECURITY tab, because XP says Permissions "are for NETWORK users.

Thanks again
