When i attempt to open a particular document in word i get a message saying the the file cannot be found even though ican see the file in explorer and it appears under dos. any idea's

have you tried browsing to the file in explorer and opening it from there?

Just curious...are you trying to open it in Word from the Recent File list? There are some things that can be tricky about that list.

No i it is not being opened from a recent files list.i have tried all different ways of opening it.

When browsing while already in the program, make sure that the "Save as type" field has the type of file that you want to open.

Hi,

Make a copy, just to be on the safe side!

Change the extension in to *.dot (template), sometimes it works.

You can try to recover you're document via the taskpane (XP)

Question, is you're HD Full?
Are you using a short cut?
Is you're document title longer (as 223 marks)?

Have you already tried searching for you're document in Windows? (perhaps ther's more than one file)

Good Luck!

thanks for all your help, in the end i opened it in XP. not sure what the problem was as the document was created on word 2000 on NT.
