Hi

I have a problem with an XL spreadsheet which is coming up as locked by user even though the user was not using the file, excel or was logged on to the network. The computer won't let the file be deleted or moved, only opened as read only and then saved as a copy of the original file.

Has anyone any idea what the cause of this may be ?

We are running Back Office SBS and XP on the workstations with office XP.

Many thanks,

Martin

Yes, I have had that problem. Sometimes just shutting down the machine and rebooting helps, but if not, try this. Open the file as read only, then save the file as a different name. If you need to have the same name, move the file to a different directory and name it the same name. After you rename it, copy it back to the origional directory overwriting the corrupted one.
