My XP machine is all set to do the file...folder etc sharing. However my ME machine does not seem to want to cooperate. Can you please give me a detailed list of instructions to make my ME machine work with file sharing. I am using a D-link router and both computer are currently sharing the internet, but when I try to do the file sharing thing, I am completely lost......please help me if you can.

I might want to add...that the ME was my older machine which was directly connected to DSL ,and still has all the Nwtwork properties in it.....I.E. Tcp/Ip etc, etc etc.........
Thanks in advance,

Jim

On the ME machine to access resources on the XP machine:
1. You must logon with a username and password that exists on the XP box.
2. File and printer sharing for Microsoft networks must be running.
3. At least one directory must be shared.

On both machines:
1. The workgroup names on both machines must be identical - but the computer names different.
2. The network card must have a valid IP address. You can check this by opening command prompt and typing IPCONFIG. I think that this is ok, as you can access the internet.
3. The Client for Microsoft networks must be installed in order for a machine to access the resources held on the other PC.

On the XP machine:
1. You must have at least one folder or printer shared.
2. A username and password must be set up for the ME machine's user to log in as. This must be entered in the windows login box.

This should do it.

right click on the folders you are trying to share and click sharing.
On xp machince make sure the security is at default ie everyone.
(Thats the easist option anyway without confusing matters.)
