file extension for free form FORTRAN 2018

with what file extension do we save a FORTRAN 2018 file in order to compile it with gfortran in free form?
 
Basically anything that is not .f or .for. The version of Fortran is determined by -std= not by the file extension (that is no .f or .for).
 
weird it doesn't support .f18 or something more recent.
i guess .f90, .f95, .f03, .f08 do not support the FORTRAN 2018 new features.
