Hi
I have been having a problem with my machine for sometime, basically on startup W2000 became very slow.
I found out that WINLOGON.EXE was using a large amount of processor % for a long period of time.
With the help of BCASTNER in the W2000 forum we identified that the delay was being caused by Norton Autoprotect trying to scan two files.
If I disbled the Autoprotect from starting at boot up the PC became much faster.
I have these two lines in the event viewer ;
Symantec AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not scan file C:\WINNT\System32\ati3d1ag.dll for viruses due to low kernel stack.
Symantec AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not scan file C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYMANT~1\IDS\IDSSettg.dat for viruses due to low kernel stack.
So I have added these two files including full paths to the exclusion list for autoprotect - but they keep being scanned.
Can anyone help ???
