I am wondering if other Citrix admins have noticed an increased occurance of the "File Download" message when their users attempt to launch apps from NFuse. [ponder]

Within the last couple of weeks I have had 6-7 trouble tickets, and the usual web client reinstall had no affect. Their IE security settings are ok. Sometimes reinstalling SP4 or IE6 temporarily resolves the issue, but it reappears the next day if that long.

We have an environment of Win2k spread accross a large geographic area, and a mix of Windows service packs and hotfixes...so I haven't come across a pattern. [thumbsdown]

They are able to save the launch.ica files to their desktop and successfully launch them, so the OS has the correct file association in all cases.

One case resolved itself when MS04-25 was uninstalled...but the other cases do not have that hotfix installed. Again - NO PATTERN.

Citrix is expressing an interest in contacting some of my users directly, but has not confirmed that they are aware of what would be causing this. [ponder]

Have any clients got XP and have they installed SP2 ?

Are the W2k clients using the PN Client or the Web Client? IF it is the web client you could try deleting the active x object in IE and also clearing the cache. Then re-install the latest active x client. What version of the client as well.
Good Luck,
Steve

Thank You,

NFuse...w/ web client v6.30.1051. Upgrading to 8.0 has no affect.

The only common denominator that I have found so far is that immediately after rebooting the client, users have time to launch one application. After that they get the file download prompt. If they do not immediately launch an app from the portal, they will not be able to do so later.

Seems like a process kicks off at start-up which interferes. Citrix will be taking a look at some of the trouble PCs this week, so I'll keep everyone informed. I'm leaning toward spyware or spyware protection software.

I have seen this launch.ica issue on several occassions (save or open). These are what I ahve found to be the issue (in my case):

1. Web interface was set to install the ica32t.cab file in the WI Admin, but the only file that was there was the .exe. Clients that already had the client were OK, but if re-imaged, they would receive the error.
2. Make sure the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" in IE settings is not activated.
3. Possible Corrupt Web Client Installation...

None of these sound like the issue though, hope Citrix can help and please update when solved as others may experience the issue.

Will be getting more details soon...but it looks like there will be a MS hotfix coming out. There is an internal memo circulating at Citrix.
