Hello everybody.

I have a file copy of my old Legato installation on a disk, and I want to save it to tape. Just in case that I gonna need it some day. But when I back it up with Legato 7.0 it wont take
the files in the old "mm" directory and not the old "index" files. Why is that? It is just a simple filebackup.

//Thanks

my guess would be that if your old installation was kept as is, then the .nsr file (assuming Unix, nsr.dir if Windows) is still in the mm and index directories. When in use, NetWorker treats these files/directories differently, so these files instruct NetWorker to skip the information. Remove or rename them and you should be able to get them to tape. Note, they are hidden files.

Simply backing up the mm directory in the manner you used may result in a corrupted media database when you recover it.

Please look at the man page on uasm, specifically on the directive called "holey". You need this directive to back up the media database, because it is a "holey" database file format.
