I use a small and very good VFP app called VFPVIEW.EXE to drag and drop to view .dbf's on my Win98se desktop.
All in all a v/good program.
I've noticed that if I don't close this program with it's asigned "F10 to close" buton but just close its window, the file I was viewing can no longer be loaded into FPD.
I get a "File Access Denied".
The attrib bits are not set to read only.
I have to reboot and then all is OK.
Obviously VFPVIEW.EXE is marking the file as a no go.
My question is, how? And how can I check and remove lock?
Thanks in advance
Ken F

Regardless of attrib,
if you in application want use file exclusively,
no viewer may be in function (in my ncview and NT)
(or probably not correctly ended, in your 98).
Better idea is
SET EXCLUSIVE OFF in your application..

TomCane, I don't know what the VFP viewer does to the file but as I said, if I exit badly, the file is unavailable to FPD until I reboot.

Tesar, setting exclusive off has no effect.
What I,d like to figure out is how the file is marked.

This sounds like code page issue. Possibly a compatibility issue between foxpro and VFP using the same DBF.
Check out the code page settings in FoxPro. Once you open a file with VFP you cannot open it again in FoxPro. Unless you establish the code page as one that both environments can share.
